'Odegaard is the only player who Fleetwood will rate'
Paul Merson, former Arsenal forward, on Sky Sports:
Odegaard is the only one who walks off the pitch tonight and all the Fleetwood players go 'what a player'. I can't believe what I've watched tonight.
History for the wrong reasons
Arsenal. Where do we start?
That was rather humiliating for the Premier League champions, humbling, to say the least. Those players would not have seen that coming, but they only have themselves to blame.
Now, come the end of the season, the Gunners may well not care about this, but they should. Once again, they have failed in the League Cup, as they always seem to do.
In fact, Arsenal are the first reigning Premier League champions to be knocked out of the League Cup by a fourth-tier side.
It’s only the second time Arsenal have been knocked out of the League Cup by a fourth-tier side, after Bradford in 2012/13. Both on penalties.
A night to forget.
Haughey: 'Hit it and run like f***'
Conor Haughey, Fleetwood matchwinner, on his winning penalty to Sky Sports:
Don't Know. Pick my spot, hit top corner, run like f***. It's just mental. The boys, I'm so proud of them. It just shows how good the team are.
The nights you live for
The Fleetwood players and staff are still out on the pitch, and the fans are packed in the stands.
Nobody wants to leave; they don't want this night to end.
We have just seen Matt Lawlor go crazy in front of the stands, full Jurgen Klopp style, with even more passion. I didn't think that was possible, but clearly it is.
These are really the nights you live for as a football player; they are just so special. Everyone linked to Fleetwood Town will feel like they are in dreamland.
You can't help but feel happy for the Cody Army... well, unless you support Arsenal.
The Gunners faithful won't want to return to the office tomorrow.
Lynch: 'We took heart from Grimsby beating Man United last year'
Jay Lynch, Fleetwood goalkeeper, speaking to Sky Sports::
My voice has gone from organising the defence. The whole team throughout the game was magnificent. To beat the English champions on penalties, credit to every one of these lads.We took heart from Grimsby beating Manchester United last year; we kind of compared it even though these are the champions.
It's a typical night in Fleetwood. We were expecting a storm and it might work in our favour. It's amazing for the club, for the town. It means everything to everyone.
Humbled at Highbury
I'm in shock, in real shock.
Tonight has shown that football is still as wonderful as ever; these shocks still happen and they are just beautiful.
There are 84 places between Premier League champions Arsenal and League Two Fleetwood Town; the Cod Army had no right to win that football match.
But they did, and they deserved it too. What a performance Matt Lawlor's side put in, one that will be remembered in these parts for a lifetime.
Arsenal rocked up tonight thinking they would stroll on through to the quarter-finals, but they were well and truly humbled.
A special, special night in Fleetwood.
This is quite incredible.
The fans are on the pitch; there are tears everywhere, including from Fleetwood boss Matt Lawlor.
I can't believe what we have just seen; it is one of the biggest cup upsets we have ever seen in this beautiful game.
No one, and I mean absolutely no one saw this coming.
PENS: Fleetwood 4-3 Arsenal
Conor Haughey must be a nervous wreck.
The young lad steps up to win it; can he do it??
YES HE CAN. WHAT A PENALTY THAT IS!
Fleetwood have done it; they have knocked out the champions of England. Wow.
PENS: Fleetwood 4-3 Arsenal
Now it's Bruno Guimaraes's time to shine for Arsenal and the boos are out.
AND THEY WORK!
Jay Lynch saves it for Fleetwood, remarkable.
PENS: Fleetwood 4-3 Arsenal
Andy Cannon's turn for Fleetwood.
EMPHATIC! Lovely penalty, that.
PENS: Fleetwood 3-3 Arsenal
No one has missed yet... and now its Viktor Gyokeres' turn to step up.
He doesn't miss either.
PENS: Fleetwood 3-2 Arsenal
Will Davies came on very late in this match and now he has his chance to make an impact.
And he does just that!
