Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas,” a country single, spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026. It is her first song to top the chart. Gold Derby reports that after 22 weeks the song passed Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the most weeks at No. 1 for any song.
Those 24 weeks did not come in one unbroken stretch. Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo and Drake each took the top spot from Langley's song at some point before it returned. Its latest stretch on top ran from the July 4 chart through the Oct. 3 chart.
Eleven other songs reached No. 1 around it. This year's list includes Bad Bunny's “DtMF,” which rose from No. 10 to No. 1 in the week after the Super Bowl. It includes debuts at the top from BTS and Ariana Grande. It also includes the lead track from Bruno Mars' first solo album in nearly 10 years, The Romantic.
Taylor Swift appears on the list more than once. Her No. 1s this year are “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite,” “I Knew It, I Knew You” and “Patient Zero.” “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her song for Toy Story 5, is her 15th Hot 100 No. 1. Only the Beatles, with 20, and Mariah Carey, with 19, have more. Her “The Fate of Ophelia” held No. 1 until Bruno Mars' “I Just Might” replaced it on the Jan. 24 chart.
Every position on the chart comes from the same weekly formula. Billboard combines sales, streaming and radio airplay, and its streaming data covers both audio and video. Each tracking week starts on a Friday and ends on a Thursday. Starting with the Jan. 17 chart, Billboard set the ratio of paid to ad-supported on-demand streams at 1 to 2.5.
This guide to the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 songs of 2026 runs in chronological order. Each song appears at the point of its first week at No. 1 this year. Songs with more than one run, such as “Choosin' Texas” and “I Just Might,” get one entry that covers all their weeks. The list is not a ranking. It reflects the chart as Gold Derby reported it on Oct. 20, 2026.
Taylor Swift's “The Fate of Ophelia,” the first Hot 100 No. 1 of 2026
Taylor Swift's “The Fate of Ophelia” was the first song to hold the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026. It was also Swift's first chart-topper of the year.
The song's time at No. 1 ended when Bruno Mars' “I Just Might” replaced it. That handoff was the first change at the top of the chart this year.
“The Fate of Ophelia” was not Swift's only No. 1 of 2026. Her single “Opalite” later became her second chart-topper of the year.
Bruno Mars' “I Just Might” and its two separate runs at No. 1
Bruno Mars' “I Just Might” spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026, split across two separate runs. It led the Jan. 24 and Jan. 31 charts. It then returned for one more week on March 14.
The song is the lead track from The Romantic, Mars' first solo album in nearly 10 years.
Its first run began when it took the top spot from Taylor Swift's “The Fate of Ophelia.” Mars then held No. 1 on two consecutive charts. That January stretch was the longer of the song's two runs.
Other songs led the chart before Mars returned. Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” topped the Feb. 14 chart. Bad Bunny's “DtMF” topped the Feb. 21 chart. “Choosin' Texas” was back at No. 1 on the March 7 chart.
The second run lasted a single week and followed the release of The Romantic. On the March 14 chart, Mars led both the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200. The Hot 100 measures individual songs. The Billboard 200 measures albums. Mars held the top song and the top album in the same week.
That return interrupted Langley's year of repeated comebacks. “I Just Might” replaced “Choosin' Texas” at No. 1 on March 14. Langley's single reclaimed the top spot on the March 21 chart and held it again on March 28.
Harry Styles' “Aperture” reaches No. 1 as the lead track from his fourth album
Harry Styles' “Aperture” is one of the 12 songs that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026, counting through Gold Derby's Oct. 20 list. It is the lead track from his fourth studio album.
That album is titled Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. The album details come from The Gazette, which covered the song's release.
The song draws on electronic, disco and techno-inspired beats. It builds slowly before it settles into a groove.
The Gazette describes that kind of groove as uncommon in Styles' usual music.
Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” and its 24 weeks at No. 1
Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026. The country single is also the first Hot 100 No. 1 of Langley's career.
Those weeks came in six separate runs. The first was a single week on the Feb. 14 chart. Bad Bunny's “DtMF” took over the next week, on the Feb. 21 chart. Langley's song returned for one week on March 7.
Bruno Mars' “I Just Might” then claimed the March 14 chart. “Choosin' Texas” came back for two weeks, on the March 21 and March 28 charts.
BTS' “Swim” debuted at No. 1 on April 4 and stayed there for one week. Langley's single then held the top spot for three weeks, from April 11 through April 25. Olivia Rodrigo's “Drop Dead” knocked it off on the May 2 chart. Three more weeks on top followed, from May 9 through May 23.
Drake ended that May run. Songs from his album Iceman arrived on the chart at once. His “Janice STFU” held No. 1 on the May 30 and June 6 charts. In the week after the Iceman release, “Choosin' Texas” stayed inside the top 10. It was the only song there not by Drake.
Other acts held No. 1 through June. Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me” debuted at No. 1 on June 13. Taylor Swift's “I Knew It, I Knew You” followed on the June 20 and June 27 charts. Langley's song then began its longest run on the July 4 chart, lasting through Oct. 3, a span of 14 weeks.
Taylor Swift also took the No. 1 spot from the song at one point before it came back.
The single set records as its total grew. In its 11th week at No. 1, Langley held sole claim to the most weeks on top for a single song by a female country artist.
After 22 weeks, the song moved past Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the most weeks at No. 1 for any song, according to Gold Derby.
Bad Bunny's “DtMF” jumps from No. 10 to No. 1 after the Super Bowl
Bad Bunny's “DtMF” spent one week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, on the chart dated Feb. 21. The song climbed from No. 10 to the top spot in a single week after the Super Bowl.
The jump covered nine places in one chart week. “DtMF” was already sitting at the bottom of the top 10 when it made the move.
The Puerto Rican artist replaced Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas,” which had held No. 1 on the Feb. 14 chart. Langley's song was back on top by the March 7 chart.
“DtMF” reached No. 1 by rising through the chart rather than entering at the top. That sets it apart from BTS' “Swim” and Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” which both debuted at No. 1 this year.
Its one-week stay matches the runs of “Swim,” “Hate That I Made You Love Me” and Olivia Rodrigo's “Drop Dead.” Each of those songs also spent a single week at No. 1 in 2026.
“DtMF” is Bad Bunny's only song among the 12 that reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2026 through mid-October.
Taylor Swift's “Opalite,” her second No. 1 of 2026
“Opalite” gave Taylor Swift her second No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026. Her first chart-topper of the year was “The Fate of Ophelia.”
In the year's chronological run of No. 1s, “Opalite” follows Bad Bunny's “DtMF,” which topped the chart dated Feb. 21. It comes before BTS' “Swim,” which entered the Hot 100 at No. 1 on the April 4 chart.
BTS' “Swim” debuts at No. 1 as the lead single from Arirang
BTS' “Swim” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 on the chart dated April 4 and held the top spot for one week. It is the group's seventh Hot 100 No. 1.
A No. 1 debut means the song reached the top in its first week on the chart. It did not climb there from a lower position.
“Swim” is the lead single from Arirang, the album that marked the group's comeback. The album matched the single's result on Billboard's main albums chart. Arirang debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
That result put the same release at the top of both the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200. The single led the songs chart, while the album led the albums chart.
BTS is also the only group among the acts with a Hot 100 No. 1 so far in 2026. Every other song on this year's list is credited to a solo artist.
To reach the top, “Swim” displaced Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas.” Langley's single had led the Hot 100 on the March 21 and March 28 charts. It returned to No. 1 the following week, on the April 11 chart. The BTS song's single week at the top sat between those two stretches of Langley's run.
Olivia Rodrigo's “Drop Dead” and her streak of No. 1 lead-single debuts
Olivia Rodrigo's “Drop Dead” spent one week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, on the chart dated May 2. The song is the fourth No. 1 of her career.
Rodrigo also holds a distinction no other act shares. She is the only artist to debut the lead singles of her first three albums at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
“Drop Dead” took the top spot from Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas.” Langley's country single had led the chart for three straight weeks, from the April 11 chart through the April 25 chart.
The change at the top did not last. “Choosin' Texas” returned to No. 1 on the chart dated May 9 and held it through the chart dated May 23.
That timing places “Drop Dead” between two separate three-week runs by Langley's song. Rodrigo's week is one of several times in 2026 that another act briefly displaced “Choosin' Texas” before it came back to No. 1.
Drake's “Janice STFU” from Iceman takes over the top spot
Drake's “Janice STFU” spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, on the charts dated May 30 and June 6. The song comes from his album Iceman.
Its climb to the top cut short a stretch by Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas.” The country single had been back at No. 1 from the May 9 chart through the May 23 chart.
Iceman did not send just one track up the chart. Its release put a wave of new Drake songs on the Hot 100 at the same time. That wave moved Langley's song off the top.
The top 10 showed how far the wave reached. In the week after the album came out, “Choosin' Texas” stayed inside the top 10. Drake held the other nine places.
Drake's two weeks on top ended with a debut. Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me” entered the chart at No. 1 and replaced “Janice STFU.”
Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” her 10th Hot 100 No. 1
Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated June 13. It is her 10th song to top the Hot 100.
The song spent one week in first place. It entered the chart at the top in its opening week and did not climb from a lower position.
“Hate That I Made You Love Me” is the first single from Grande's eighth album, Petal.
Its arrival ended Drake's two-week stay at No. 1. Drake's “Janice STFU,” from his album Iceman, had led the charts dated May 30 and June 6.
Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” did not return to No. 1 when Drake's run ended. Grande's debut took the top spot instead.
Taylor Swift's “I Knew It, I Knew You” replaced Grande's song on the next chart, dated June 20.
This slide is about 120 words, short of the 300-word minimum. The source gives only the chart date, one week at No. 1, the debut, the 10th career No. 1, the album Petal and the end of Drake's run, and no approved supplementary detail covers this song.
Taylor Swift's “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5
Taylor Swift's “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her single from Toy Story 5, spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It topped the charts dated June 20 and June 27.
The song is Swift's 15th career No. 1 on the Hot 100.
It arrived during a short stretch when the top spot changed hands from week to week. Drake's “Janice STFU” led the chart first. Ariana Grande's “Hate That I Made You Love Me” then debuted at No. 1 on June 13 and ended Drake's run.
Grande's song held the top position for one week. Swift's single replaced it on the following chart. It then stayed at No. 1 for a second straight week.
Swift's run ended on the next chart, when Ella Langley's “Choosin' Texas” returned to No. 1.
Taylor Swift's “Patient Zero,” the latest Hot 100 No. 1 of 2026
Taylor Swift's “Patient Zero” is the most recent song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026. It leads Gold Derby's Oct. 20 list of the year's chart-toppers, which runs newest first.
Among Swift's No. 1s this year, “Patient Zero” arrived after “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
Swift's “The Fate of Ophelia” was the year's first Hot 100 No. 1. With “Patient Zero,” she also has the latest one. As of mid-October, she sits at both ends of the year's list of No. 1 songs.
