Dimapur, Oct 26: Marking a significant step towards expanding specialised paediatric healthcare, Nagaland’s first dedicated children’s hospital, Dr. Belho’s Children’s Hospital, was inaugurated at Walford Road in Dimapur on Monday.
The hospital is equipped with a 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), outpatient and emergency services. A milk bank is also planned in the coming days.
The inauguration coincided with the 87th birthday of Dr. T. Belho, Nagaland’s first obstetrician and gynaecologist and founder of Dr. Belho’s Nursing Home, established in 1979.
Dr. Mhasiseno T. Belho, proprietor of the hospital, said the facility aims to provide comprehensive healthcare for children aged zero to 12 years under one roof.
The hospital will bring together paediatric specialists, neonatologists, rehabilitation services and child psychologists to address the varied healthcare needs of children.

Inaugurating the hospital, veteran doctor and former minister Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao stressed that medical advancement must go hand in hand with compassion and personal attention.
He expressed hope that the facility would reduce the difficulties faced by families who have to travel outside Nagaland to access specialised treatment for their children.
Dr. T. Belho also expressed happiness at the inauguration, describing the hospital as his daughter’s vision and an investment in the future of children.
He said he hoped the institution would uphold the values of excellence, compassion and integrity while serving families for generations to come.
