Apple $AAPL unveiled a new iMac and introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its M6 chip on Tuesday. Pre-orders open Wednesday, and deliveries start Friday, Nov. 6, the company said.
Pre-orders will run on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 35 countries and regions, including the U.S. The iMac with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU starts at $1,499, and the version with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU starts at $1,699. The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999. Education pricing starts at $1,449 for the 10-core iMac, $1,599 for the 12-core iMac and $1,899 for the MacBook Pro.
The 14-inch model is the entry-level MacBook Pro, and Apple continues to sell higher-end versions with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, according to Bloomberg.
Apple said the M6 iMac delivers up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than the M4 model and up to 18x faster performance than the most popular Intel $INTC-based iMac. The iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K display, comes in seven colors and features Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
For the MacBook Pro, Apple said the 12-core GPU delivers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster AI workloads than M5. The laptop offers up to 24 hours of battery life, 16GB of unified memory as standard and configurations up to 32GB. It is available in space black and silver and also features Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
Both computers run macOS 27, which includes Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features.
"With the powerful M6 chip, we're taking performance to the next level, with a boost in CPU speed and graphics and even more powerful capabilities for on-device AI," Shelly Goldberg, Apple's vice president of hardware engineering, said in a statement.
M6 made its debut inside the Mac mini during September, according to Bloomberg. The iMac moves up from an M4 chip, and the MacBook Pro from M5, based on Apple's comparisons.
The announcements follow a revamped iPad mini that Apple rolled out on Monday, according to Bloomberg. Apple is expected to introduce a MacBook Pro with a touch screen on Wednesday, according to Bloomberg.
