Cassava Technologies has become an authorised reseller of Anthropic’s Claude artificial intelligence models through Amazon Bedrock which gives businesses and other organisations across Africa another route to access advanced AI capabilities.
The agreement, announced on October 27, 2026, is expected to support organisations seeking to integrate AI into their applications and services as businesses across the continent explore ways to improve productivity and increase digital transformation.
Claude, developed by AI company Anthropic, offers capabilities including advanced reasoning, image analysis, code generation and multilingual processing. Through Amazon Bedrock, organisations can access these models and integrate them into their own technology systems.
Cassava’s authorised reseller status allows it to serve as a partner for African organisations seeking access to Claude through Amazon Web Services’ managed AI platform.
Hardy Pemhiwa, president and group chief executive officer of Cassava Technologies, said access to advanced AI models was becoming important for businesses seeking to incorporate artificial intelligence into their operations.
“What matters to our customers is being able to use AI in their business, and that starts with access to the best models,” Pemhiwa said.
He added that making Claude available through Amazon Bedrock would combine access to the models with the infrastructure, partnerships and services businesses need to adopt AI responsibly.
“Our goal is simple, advanced AI within reach of every business, government, researcher, entrepreneur and university across the emerging markets globally,” he said.
The development comes as technology providers expand access to generative AI tools, which businesses can use to automate tasks, analyse information, develop software and build AI-powered customer services.
Amazon Bedrock provides access to foundation models from multiple AI developers through a managed service, enabling organisations to build generative AI applications without having to host and manage the underlying models themselves.
By adding Claude to its reseller offering, Cassava is expanding the AI services it can provide to enterprise customers across its markets.
The company operates across connectivity, cloud computing, colocation, cybersecurity, AI computing and payment services. Its digital infrastructure and services span 37 countries, according to the company.
Cassava has also been expanding its AI infrastructure and partnerships as it seeks to support wider adoption of artificial intelligence in emerging markets.
However, broader adoption of advanced AI across Africa will depend not only on access to models but also on factors such as reliable digital infrastructure, computing capacity, skills, affordability and appropriate data governance.
For businesses, the practical value of the agreement will ultimately depend on how effectively they can integrate Claude into their operations and translate its capabilities into measurable improvements in productivity, customer experience and business performance.
