The Auburn Tigers will need to hit the reset button once again after losing to LSU 38-17 on Saturday. How does this loss impact the remainder of Auburn's schedule?
Despite its three-touchdown loss to LSU, Auburn is still on the trajectory it was last week to make a postseason bowl appearance. They now have a 93.6% chance to win six games to make Auburn bowl-eligible. On paper, the Tigers should reach the mark with wins over Arkansas and Samford in November.
The question for Auburn is: can it win more than just six this season in year one under Alex Golesh? Last week, after defeating Georgia, Auburn's projected win total was 7.2 and 4.8 losses according to the ESPN Football Power Index. After the loss to LSU, that projection slightly dipped to 6.8 wins and 5.2 losses.
Auburn has a tough matchup this week on the road at Ole Miss. The Rebels are coming off a narrow defeat to the Texas Longhorns, 34-27, dropping their record to 5-2 on the season. Ole Miss has aspirations to return to the College Football Playoff and will likely need to win the rest of its games to get there. The ESPN FPI projects Ole Miss for 8.5 wins and a 39.6% chance to make the College Football Playoff.
