A regional security system in the Gulf must include Iran to ensure stability. Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Oman, stated this during a lecture at the University of Cambridge in the UK, the Omani foreign ministry informs.
For almost half a century, Iran has been excluded from any significant participation in regional security structures, which has had extremely negative consequences not only for Iran itself, but also for the entire region, Albusaidi.
Any Gulf security architecture that does not include Iran is inherently unstable and is not structurally viable, he added
Also, Albusaidi pointed to the excessive dependence of Middle Eastern countries on external powers, which complicates the resolution of issues related to Iran's nuclear program and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Omani foreign minister, such dependence is accompanied by the promotion of the interests of third countries, which do not always coincide with regional interests.
