Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has threatened to sack any political appointee or party official found selling empowerment items distributed to constituents by the senator representing Kano South Senatorial District.
The governor, who was represented by the Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Haruna Doguwa, gave the warning during the Senator representing Kano South, Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila’s 12th empowerment programme, where 16 vehicles, 400 motorcycles and 600 sewing machines were distributed to beneficiaries on Monday.
He urged beneficiaries to use the items for their intended purposes, stressing that the intervention was designed to improve their welfare, strengthen small businesses and promote economic empowerment.
Yusuf also expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections, urging party members to intensify their efforts towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
The senator’s empowerment programme saw 16 vehicles presented to APC local government chairmen, while 400 motorcycles were distributed to party executives across the district.
Similarly, 200 tailors received empowerment packages comprising two standard sewing machines and one industrial sewing machine each, to strengthen their businesses and enable them to employ and train others.
Speaking at the event, the senator said the initiative reflected his commitment to translating the confidence reposed in him by the people into tangible development, economic independence and sustainable livelihoods.
He acknowledged the economic and developmental challenges experienced over the past three years but maintained that his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Kano South remained unwavering.
