Ohangla musician Oticho Jasuba is grieving the loss of two people at once, his wife and the child they never got to hold.

The singer broke the devastating news on his official Facebook page on Monday, 27 October, revealing that his wife, Vildah, and their newborn baby had both passed away the previous evening at Homa Bay Referral Hospital. The cause was complications during childbirth.
In an official death announcement shared online, Oticho described the moment in words that captured the weight of his grief:
"It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I announce the untimely passing of my beloved wife, Vildah, and our newborn baby, who sadly passed away this evening, 26th October, at Homa Bay Referral Hospital following complications during childbirth."
A family shattered
Oticho went on to say the double loss has plunged both him and his entire family into deep mourning. He asked for prayers and support from those around him as he tries to come to terms with what has happened.
"May the Almighty grant their souls eternal peace and give us the strength to endure this immense loss. May you both rest in eternal peace. You will forever remain in my heart," he wrote.
The photo he shared alongside the announcement carried a caption in Dholuo that read, "Nind kodkwe My G, Nyathi Odok Imbe Iweya," accompanied by crying emojis — words that spoke of a pain beyond what English could contain.
