UCLA HC Bob Chesney Makes Loyalty Clear When Asked About His Future

Bob Chesney is off to a flawless start in his first season as head coach of the UCLA Bruins, opening the year with a 7-0 record.

UCLA hired Chesney as its new head football coach following his impressive two-year stint as program leader for JMU. In 2025, Chesney led the Dukes to a 12-2 record capped off by a first-round loss to Oregon in the College Football Playoff.

With his success at UCLA so far, could another program poach him from this job?

Chesney was asked that question when speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

"This is the greatest place in the world to play football. I think it's the greatest place in the world to coach football," Chesney said. "I'm extremely blessed to be here. My family loves it here — I love it here. ... Very excited about the future."

Chesney and UCLA will look to further their undefeated record in a matchup against the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday.

The Bruins will then close out their regular-season schedule with matchups against Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan and USC.
