(CNS): Attempted murder suspect Michael Gollab (23) is in RCIPS custody, having been successfully extradited from Jamaica last week. The Cayman police said that Gollab, who fled the Cayman Islands in the wake of an attempted murder in June, was detained by the Jamaican authorities in Kingston on 29 August. He will remain in custody pending further investigations.
Gollab and two other men were rescued at sea by a cargo vessel after the fishing vessel they were aboard ran into trouble. The three men were transported to Jamaica, where Gollab was taken into custody by Jamaican law enforcement.
The extradition was a joint effort between the Jamaican authorities and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Cayman, supported by Customs and Border Control, Cayman Airways, and the security team at the Cayman Islands Airports Authority, the RCIPS said in a release.
Gollab, who was working as a security guard here, is suspected of trying to murder a woman during an altercation at a George Town bar. He has not yet been charged with the offence.
