The Samsung Lions beat the KIA Tigers to even their playoff series at one game apiece.
Samsung defeated KIA 8-3 on the 27th at Daegu Samsung Lions Park in Game 2 of the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO postseason playoffs, a best-of-five series. The win halted KIA's four-game postseason winning streak and gave Samsung its first victory of the series, erasing the sting of a 1-5 loss in Game 1 the previous day.
Samsung's Lewin Diaz led the way. With his team ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Diaz pounced on a mistake — a 151 kph fastball from KIA starter Adam Oller on the sixth pitch of the at-bat — and drove it over the right-center field wall for a two-run homer. The blast stretched the lead to 4-1 and put Samsung firmly in control.
Choi Hyoung-woo's bat was also hot. With his team leading 7-2 and one out in the bottom of the seventh, he hammered a 133 kph slider from KIA left-hander Kim Beom-soo for a solo home run over the right-field fence. It was his eighth career postseason home run and, at 42 years, 10 months and 11 days old, the oldest home run ever hit in a KBO postseason game. He also set postseason records for oldest player to appear in a game, oldest to record a hit and oldest to drive in a run on the same day.
Samsung starter Ariel Jurado earned the win, allowing five hits, two walks and two runs while striking out three over 6.2 innings. KIA starter Oller, by contrast, was pulled early after throwing 96 pitches over 4.2 innings, giving up five hits, including one home run, and five runs. He left the mound after failing to escape trouble in the fifth with his team trailing 1-4.
With the series tied at one win apiece, the two teams will take the 28th off before moving to Gwangju-Kia Champions Field for a pivotal Game 3 at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th.
