FC Barcelona have announced that Xavi Espart has suffered an injury.
The defender had already been forced off against PSG last Tuesday, and then suffered an injury against Real Madrid.
The Barça academy graduate had to be replaced in the 30th minute due to an ankle problem, with Alejandro Balde coming on.
Here is the statement...
The club's statement
"Tests have confirmed that Xavi Espart has suffered an injury to the syndesmosis in his right ankle following a collision with an opposing player during the match against Real Madrid.
He is expected to be out for approximately seven weeks".
With that timeline, he will miss the league matches against Alavés, Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal, Deportivo and Celta, while his availability against Málaga remains to be seen.
He will also miss the Champions League games against Manchester City, Sabah and Aston Villa.
He is likely to feature only against Málaga (a doubt) or Real Sociedad for the remainder of 2027.
