MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Trade turnover between Algeria and Russia currently stands at around $3 bln, which is a "very small volume," considering the entire potential and opportunities for its expansion, and for a broader development of cooperation between the two countries across a wide range of sectors, Algerian Ambassador to Russia Toufik Jouamaa said in an interview with Vesti.
"Economic relations between the two countries cannot be separated from the political aspects of their bilateral ties. However, it must be noted that these relations have not yet reached the level both sides aspire to, considering the opportunities and potential we have. Trade turnover between the two countries is currently around $3 bln, which we consider very small, given the strategic nature of the relationship between the two nations," he said.
The Algerian side seeks to strengthen and expand trade and economic relations with Russia, the diplomat noted. "Our areas of cooperation are diverse, but the energy sector is at the forefront. Among other things, we aim to develop a partnership in the field of renewable energy sources," he added.
