The New York Jets still don’t look right under head coach Aaron Glenn. After winning just three games in Glenn’s first season with the team as the sideline boss in 2025, New York has gone just 2-5 through seven games in the 2026 campaign.
The Jets’ woes continued on Sunday, when they became the first victim of the season by the Miami Dolphins.
The previously winless Fins defeated Glenn’s Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford to the tune of a 28-25 score. The close loss also highlighted another example of poor clock management by the Jets in the closing minutes of the first half; since Glenn took over as head coach, opponents have outscored the team 107-6 in the last two minutes of the first half.
Glenn admitted following the game that he should have called a timeout late in the first half instead of just letting Miami burn the time before scoring a touchdown with only six seconds left in the second quarter.
Glenn Speaks Up on Decision Late in First Half of Jets’ Loss to Miami
On Monday, however, Glenn appeared to defend his decision.
“We’re trying. We do a two-minute jog through on Wednesday and then we come back and we have a live two-minute on Thursday and then we have another two-minute on Saturday. So, it’s not like we’re not trying to get that done,” Glenn said (h/t Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team).
There’s more than just time management that the Jets have to fix to turn things around.
On the season, New York is 27th in the league with only 19.6 points per game and 23rd with 303.0 total yards per contest.
New York can stop its skid and prevent a three-game losing skid in Week 8, when they share the field with another careening team, the Las Vegas Raiders, in a showdown at MetLife Stadium.
