Aitor Paredes headed home from a corner in the second half, and Yuri Berchiche rounded off the win with a powerful free kick in the closing minutes.
Celta Vigo and Real Betis drew 0-0 in a game in which both sides showed signs of fatigue following midweek European fixtures.
Real Sociedad moved into fifth place in La Liga after a 2-1 home win over Levante, with all three goals coming in the first 27 minutes. Orri Oskarsson and Benat Turrientes scored for Real Sociedad, while Nacho Perez pulled one back for Levante.
