Ripple wants to sit at the center of how big companies manage their money, and it just gave its treasury software a significant upgrade to make that case.
The company added AI automation and 24/7 returns on eligible digital assets to Ripple Treasury, its corporate treasury management platform. The update was unveiled on September 10, 2026.
What Ripple actually shipped
The centerpiece is GSmart, an AI layer built to support core treasury work. That includes forecasting, liquidity management and risk assessment.
The AI agents inside GSmart monitor ongoing processes and recommend actions based on each company’s own policies. Each recommendation comes with policy citations, and a human has to approve it before anything is executed.
The design draws a clear line between two kinds of software. Financial calculations stay with deterministic systems, meaning code that produces the same answer every time. The AI’s job is to interpret policies and surface insights a person can act on.
The second piece of the update is 24/7 returns on eligible digital assets. Traditional cash management tends to follow banking hours, so the ability to earn returns around the clock marks a different rhythm for corporate balance sheets.
The numbers behind the platform
Ripple Treasury is not a startup experiment. The platform serves more than 1,000 customers across 160 countries.
It also connects to 13,000 banks. And it handles approximately $12.5 trillion in annual payments volume.
Ripple is also pointing to adoption figures for the AI features already in customers’ hands. According to the company, 60% of eligible customers are using Risk Insights to spot exposure anomalies and policy breaches.
Meanwhile, 44% of clients have turned on Forecast Insights to keep an eye on liquidity gaps.
How Ripple got here
Ripple Treasury was formerly known as GTreasury. Ripple acquired the company for $1 billion in October 2025, a deal that signaled its push into enterprise treasury management.
GSmart itself predates the acquisition. It first launched in June 2025, when GTreasury was still under its previous ownership.
Earlier in 2026, the platform picked up digital asset capabilities. That let users manage digital currencies and traditional cash inside one unified system rather than juggling separate dashboards.
The September update builds directly on that foundation. First came the ability to hold both kinds of assets side by side. Now comes AI oversight and around-the-clock returns on the eligible digital ones.
What this means for corporate finance and crypto
The most interesting design choice here is restraint. Ripple is not selling an autonomous AI that moves money on its own.
Instead, every recommendation carries a policy citation and requires sign-off. A recommendation that points to the specific rule it relies on is much easier to defend to auditors, boards and regulators than one that simply says “trust me.”
The crypto angle is real but measured. By pairing digital asset returns with a platform already wired into 13,000 banks, Ripple is placing crypto inside the plumbing that corporate treasurers use every day.
The update applies to eligible digital assets, so the scope of what qualifies will shape how much corporate money actually takes advantage of 24/7 returns.
