A 24-year-old Indian national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake with 5.1 kilograms of Kush cannabis valued at over Rs. 51 million.
According to Sri Lanka Customs, the suspect was arrested by officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Unit (NCU) at approximately 1.15 a.m. today (26).
The passenger had arrived in Sri Lanka on Vietnam Airlines flight VN671 and was attempting to exit through the Green Channel of the airport’s arrival terminal when Customs officers noticed his suspicious behaviour.
He was subsequently detained for further inspection, while his luggage was subjected to scanning.
