Zagreb Airport
Zagreb, October 26, 2026 – Zagreb Airport today welcomed its four millionth passenger of the year 2026, reaching this significant milestone earlier than ever before and reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing medium-sized airports.
Despite the challenging environment facing the aviation industry, including rising operational costs, geopolitical developments, and capacity constraints, Zagreb Airport has demonstrated remarkable resilience.
Over the past several years, passenger traffic has continued to grow significantly, exceeding 2019 levels by almost 40% and outperforming many European airports that have yet to achieve comparable growth rates.
The airport has also successfully adapted to network adjustments driven by geopolitical circumstances and broader market developments. Through close cooperation with airline partners and continuous efforts to diversify its route network, Zagreb Airport has maintained stable passenger growth and strong connectivity.
The launch of Air China’s service between Beijing and Zagreb represents another major step forward in strengthening Zagreb Airport’s international connectivity and highlights the growing attractiveness of the Croatian market.
Zagreb Airport is also actively engaged in discussions with airline partners regarding further network development and expects to share additional positive news related to its route portfolio in the near future.
At the same time, Zagreb Airport continues to benefit from one of its key competitive advantages: low seasonality. Unlike many leisure-focused destinations, Zagreb enjoys stable year-round traffic generated by a balanced mix of business, tourism, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) travel.
This provides airlines with greater sustainability and supports consistent connectivity throughout the year. Building on the strong performance achieved to date, Zagreb Airport remains confident about the outlook for the remainder of the year and expects 2026 to become another record year in its history.
With a growing route network, strong airline partnerships, stable year-round demand, and continued investment in connectivity, Zagreb Airport remains well positioned to strengthen its role as Croatia’s leading international gateway and an increasingly important aviation hub in Southeast Europe.
In this context, Zagreb Airports plans to commence preparatory activities for the expansion of the new passenger terminal as early as 2027.
