The case demonstrates the excesses of #MeToo, Hamm explains to Rob

More than a decade after his career was derailed by sexual assault allegations, acclaimed Canadian author and former UBC professor Steven Galloway is hoping a defamation trial can clear his name and hold others accountable. The highly-publicized allegations against Galloway were not substantiated by a judge’s independent investigation, yet the ordeal cost him his job and his reputation. In this interview, Rob Breakenridge is joined by National Post columnist Amy Hamm, who has been covering the trial and shares details on some crucial details that have emerged around the conduct of Galloway’s accusers, the role of fellow academics, and troubling questions around UBC’s handling of the matter. Hamm also touches on the influence of the #MeToo movement and whether this case represents a reckoning of sorts for the excesses of that era. Watch the full video directly below.
