Chipata Central United Party for National Development (UPND) Member of Parliament (MP) George Mwanza has pledged continued development for Chipata Central Constituency as an appreciation for voting him into office.
Mr Mwanza was speaking over the weekend, during a UPND social gathering held at Chipata College of Education.
The Lawmaker also took time to appreciate the UPND party structures for working hard, building up to the August General Elections that ushered him into office as Chipata Central MP.
He said the hard work and unity of the Party, also contributed to the re-election of the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema.
“I know this achievement would not have been made possible if you people in structures did not work hard, to convince the people of Chipata to vote for President Hakainde Hichilema and myself,” he said.
Mr Mwanza has since assured the residents of Chipata that their vote will not be in vain, as it translates to continued development and more opportunities for residents.
“You supported me when I was your Mayor for Chipata City, and you eventually gave me an opportunity to go to parliament, I don’t take this for granted, but sincerely appreciate each one of you,” Mr Mwanza said.
Meanwhile, UPND Provincial Treasurer Lucky Matongo said the UPND Party welcomes all new MPs to the party as it continues to grow.
He said this is an indication that the party is loved, having moved from 2 to 8 MPs in the region.
“For the Party, this is an achievement. We will continue working hard and in unity to grow our structure further,” he said.
