The Lagos Grassroots Alliance, United Kingdom chapter, on October 24, 2026, held its official launch and inauguration of its executive committee, highlighting opportunities for diaspora participation in Lagos state’s development.
Durotimi Idowu Adeboye, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Lagos Education Report, attended the event, where he presented copies of the magazine and delivered a speech examining the vision of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and the potential contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora to Lagos’s development.
The magazine’s coverage of Hamzat’s perspectives on education and development provided a basis for discussions on how knowledge, professional experience and resources acquired abroad could be channelled into initiatives that benefit communities in Lagos.
Education featured prominently in the discussion, particularly the opportunities for diaspora professionals to contribute through mentoring, teacher development, research, technology transfer and institutional partnerships.
Such collaborations could also help prepare young people for employment by connecting educational institutions with industry expertise and emerging opportunities in the global economy.
However, translating these opportunities into meaningful outcomes requires clear objectives, transparent processes, credible partnerships and measurable results.
In education, the ultimate test of any intervention is its impact on teaching standards, learning outcomes and students’ future prospects.
The discussion further highlighted the links between educational development, economic productivity, equal access to opportunities and community wellbeing, underscoring the importance of sustained cooperation between Nigerians at home and abroad.
For the newly inaugurated executive committee, the launch provides a platform to engage stakeholders, exchange ideas and explore practical partnerships with communities and institutions in Lagos.
Participants were also photographed holding copies of Lagos Education Report, marking the magazine’s presentation at the event.
Adeboye’s participation brought publishing, education and community development into a shared conversation, drawing attention to the potential of diaspora networks to support Lagos through knowledge exchange, professional collaboration and well-planned community initiatives.
