Due to failure in discharging duties in a student death issue and other administrative deficiencies, Prakasam Collector P. Raja Babu has taken action against District Education Officer (DEO) C.V. Renuka. In her place, Deputy DEO E.V. Rangaiah has been given full additional charge (FAC).
As per the Collector’s orders, Ms. Renuka was surrendered to the government as she has failed to address the grievance of late Moula Bee, mother of Syed Tawshiq, who died under suspicious circumstances at Sri Chaitanya School in Mulaguntapadu village on February, 14, 2026.
Alleging foul play, Tawshiq‘s mother demanded action against the school’s management. When no action was taken against them, she consumed pesticide and died on September 12, 2026. Later, the school’s recognition was cancelled.
Meanwhile, the school management had filed petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Following the court’s order, the government has appointed Nellore Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ch. Sowjanya as the new Investigating Officer.
Speaking to The Hindu, the ASP said, “The investigation is still ongoing. We have examined all the witnesses and seized the digital video recordings (DVRs) at school as well as along the route. All the evidence has been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and we are awaiting the reports.”
“Meanwhile, the members of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) have claimed that they too have some proofs related to this case. Soon after the local body elections, we will meet them and analyse their evidences as well,” she added.
