Asung Daiso, which operates the fixed-price household goods chain Daiso, said on the 27th that it has broken ground on the Yangju Hub Center, a facility in the Eunnam Industrial Complex in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, that will handle both online and offline logistics in one place.
The Yangju Hub Center will be Asung Daiso's fourth hub center, following facilities in Namsa, Busan and Sejong, and the largest of all its logistics centers. Once completed, it will supply goods to about 800 Daiso stores in the greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province and process 50,000 Daiso Mall orders a day.
The center will have a total floor area of 62,346 pyeong (about 206,000 square meters) and span one basement level and four above-ground floors. Total investment is 600 billion won ($420 million), with completion targeted for January 2029. The company said it expects the center to create about 1,000 jobs.
The facility will adopt an omnichannel logistics model that manages store shipments and online orders through a single integrated system. It will also be equipped with advanced automation such as high-speed shuttles and lifts. Its target of 350,000 orders a day exceeds the capacity of the existing Namsa Hub Center at 230,000, the Busan Hub Center at 320,000 and the Sejong Hub Center at 300,000.
"We are breaking ground on the Yangju Hub Center, our fourth logistics center, to build a foundation that can support continued business expansion," Asung Daiso Chairman Park Jung-boo said at a groundbreaking ceremony the previous day. "We will work to hire local talent and pursue mutually beneficial cooperation with local companies."
