Tashkent has begun construction of dedicated bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes on Yangi Sergeli Street in Sergeli district and Amir Temur Avenue in Yunusabad district, with temporary traffic restrictions taking effect on October 25, according to the city’s Center for Traffic Management.
The works are part of the next stage of the city’s BRT system development project.
On Yangi Sergeli Street, construction will cover a 1,368-meter section between the intersection with Choshtepa Street and the SOUEAST service center building.
On Amir Temur Avenue, works will span a 1,430-meter section from the overpass at the intersection with Ahmad Donish Street to the intersection with Shahriston Street.
The first phase will focus on the central sections of both streets, while the remaining traffic lanes will stay open. However, temporary traffic disruptions may occur during construction.
The Center for Traffic Management urged drivers to account for the restrictions when planning their journeys, follow temporary road signs and use alternative routes where necessary.
Earlier, a BRT corridor approximately 1 kilometer long opened on Shahrisabz Street in Tashkent, marking another step in the expansion of the city’s dedicated bus infrastructure.
