Apple's M6 Mac mini gets a rare $120 discount

Mini PCs are having a bit of a moment, but Apple's latest entry into the space is worth your attention for a different reason: sheer efficiency. The Mac mini has always been a powerhouse in a tiny chassis, and the new model doesn't disappoint. Right now, you can grab Apple's M6 Mac mini on Amazon for just $779, which is $120 off its standard $899 price tag.

What's great about the M6 Mac mini?

At the heart of this machine is the new M6 SoC, built on TSMC's 2-nanometer process. You get a 12-core CPU complex that includes two "super cores" clocked up to 4.8 GHz, four performance cores at 4.5 GHz, and six efficiency cores at 2.9 GHz. Apple claims this delivers up to 1.2x faster multithreaded performance than the M5 and up to 2.4x faster performance than the M1.

For your daily tasks, that means apps launch instantly, and multitasking feels effortless. The graphics side is just as impressive. The M6 features a 12-core GPU with per-core neural accelerators, delivering nearly a 30% increase in peak GPU compute over the M5. This is huge if you're into gaming or creative work.

Apple says the M6 can run titles like Cyberpunk 2077 twice as fast as the M4 Mac mini, with ray tracing and Ultra settings enabled. You also get support for Dynamic Caching and hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which optimizes performance on the fly. For AI enthusiasts, the M6 Mac mini is a beast. It includes a dual 16-core Neural Engine that provides up to 2x peak compute over previous generations.

Each GPU core also has a neural accelerator, boosting AI performance by up to 4x. If you're running local large language models, you'll see up to 4.8x faster prompt processing in tools like LM Studio compared to the M4. The unified memory supports up to 32GB with 170GB/s of bandwidth, ensuring your AI workloads don't bottleneck.

Connectivity hasn't been overlooked either. The M6 Mac mini includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for blazing-fast wireless speeds. You get three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the rear, two USB-C ports on the front, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 2.5Gb Ethernet port. The chassis remains compact with a 5-by-5-inch footprint, so it'll slip right under your monitor or onto your desk without taking up much space.

Right now, the $779 price on Amazon is $120 lower than the standard $899 retail price. This is a substantial discount for a brand-new device with Apple's latest silicon. If you're in the market for a powerful, efficient, and compact desktop, give this deal a look while the savings are still here.
