NAVER (035420.KS) said in a regulatory filing on the 27th that it has signed an agreement with global asset manager Brookfield to secure artificial intelligence computing infrastructure worth $9 billion, or 12 trillion won.
The deal also satisfies the precondition for a $1 billion strategic equity investment from Nvidia. NAVER plans to bring 55 megawatts online in the first half of 2027 and expand capacity to 200 megawatts by 2028.
Under the agreement, Brookfield will establish a separate special purpose vehicle, tentatively named Asset Co., to invest up to $9 billion in graphics processing units, data centers and related assets. Brookfield will supply the computing resources from that infrastructure to NAVER Cloud, which will pay usage fees linked to its business revenue. NAVER agreed to guarantee the usage fee obligations of its subsidiary NAVER Cloud for up to eight years.
The agreement reduces uncertainty over funding for the large-scale infrastructure buildout and is expected to accelerate the project.
"Through this agreement, we will secure financial stability and business scalability, and respond to surging AI computing demand at home and abroad to grow into a global leader in AI infrastructure," a NAVER official said.
