Casey Cochran will join the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team in 2027 to compete in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX), putting the final 250 puzzle piece in place after Husqvarna announced it would no longer field a factory team in May.
Cochran raced for the KTM Group on a GasGas and Husqvarna since 2021.
Since turning pro in 2023, Cochran scored one overall podium in the Pro Motocross series in the Spring Creek National in Millville, Minnesota, in 2023 and nearly added another at RedBud in Buchanan, Michigan last year with a fourth-place finish.

"I’m super stoked and grateful to be joining Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the 2027 SMX season," Cochran said in a news release. "This is an opportunity I’ve worked hard for, and I’m ready to make the most of it. I can’t wait to get to work with the team and see what we can accomplish together."
Cochran joins a packed team that includes the 2026 250 Supercross East and Pro Motocross champion Cole Davies, as well as Kayden Minear, Caden Dudney, Pierce Brown, and Landen Gordon.
"We are very excited to have Casey join us," said Jensen Hendler, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 250 Team Manager. "He has impressed me for years, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do on our team. With our program, Casey’s talent and his strong work ethic, I feel we have a winning combination."
Plagued by injury, Cochran has limited stadium experience in the Supercross series, making only four features in his career. His best finish was a pair of 15th-place results in Philadelphia and Nashville, Tennessee, in 2024 but he won the 2023 SMX Next championship by winning the season finale in Salt Lake City after finishing fourth or better in the five-round series.
