MORE passengers are expected at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the nine-day travel period during the observance of All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day, or Undas.
In a statement on Monday, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), which operates NAIA, projected about 1.25 million passengers from Oct. 27 to Nov. 4, up 1% from 1.24 million during the same period in 2025.
It added that about 149,000 travelers may pass through the airport on its busiest day on Oct. 30.
Ahead of the travel rush, NNIC implemented round-the-clock operational monitoring, provided additional personnel and passenger assistance services during peak periods, and heightened security.
It also facilitated closer coordination with airlines, ground handlers, transport providers, and government agencies.
NNIC also set up a 24-hour command center at Terminal 2 for coordination and incident response.
It is working closely with the Department of Transportation, Manila International Airport Authority, Office for Transportation on Security, Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group, Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Customs, and Bureau of Quarantine.— CAT
