The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over alleged vehicle theft in Idanre, Ondo State.
The suspects, identified as Akinsanoye Rotimi, Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday, were arrested in connection with the theft of a Toyota Camry.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the arrest followed an intelligence-led investigation.
According to the statement, the complainant reported at the Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters on October 12, 2026, that he discovered at about 6:00 am on the same day that his ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 302 AA was missing from his residence.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives attached to the Idanre Division immediately commenced an investigation, deploying intelligence-led policing and other investigative strategies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the theft and apprehend those responsible,” Jimoh said.
He added that investigation led to the arrest of the first suspect, Akinsanoye Rotimi, who allegedly confessed to masterminding the theft.
The police spokesman said information obtained during interrogation led to the arrest of Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday, both residents of Lagos State.
Jimoh disclosed that further investigation led to the recovery of a gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 305 AE, while the suspects disclosed that the complainant’s stolen vehicle had been dismantled and its components sold as spare parts.
The trio have since been arraigned before the appropriate court and remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that timely and credible information remains critical to preventing crime.
