Greg James had a message to share with Radio 1 listeners as he missed his breakfast show slot following a messy night out with his friends.
James has fronted the morning show since 2018, but was absent on Tuesday (27 October) with weekend afternoon presenters Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston standing in for him.
On Instagram, James 40, explained that while he had missed the show thanks to a big night out in Manchester watching indie band The Strokes, this had all been planned.
Releasing an "unofficial statement" with Radio 1 branding (that he clarified was "literally just for a laff"), James wrote: "I'm not on this morning because I went to visit my mate in Manchester and we went to see The Strokes.

"This is a sanctioned day off so don't get your knickers in a twist. I haven't slept in. But I am currently sleeping. I timed this post to go out because I'm a pathetic loser."
He continued: "Anyway, the gig was great, I've had a lot of drinks, well done The Strokes for being great and well done to Harry Kane for all the goals – I've just caught up with all the latest things."
James clarified that he would be back on Wednesday "with my usual bulls***", before telling his listeners to tune into MacGregor and Diston's show "or else".
The presenter's statement comes just weeks after he legitimately missed the beginning of the breakfast show after his alarm failed to go off.

Early breakfast hosts Danny Mylo and Rosie Madison had been prepared to hand the reins over to James at 7am on Monday 12 October, but had been forced to vamp after James failed to show up.
They received "proof of life" just after 7am, with James arriving 38 minutes late and immediately apologising to the duo.
“Oh, that’s so annoying,” James, who is married to author Bella Mackie, said. "7.38 is quite bad. That’s a bad one.”
James said that it was only the second time he had slept through an alarm in his eight years presenting the Radio 1 breakfast show, having joined the station in 2007.
