The Arizona Cardinals are bringing back a familiar face to help address their wide receiver problems. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Arizona is signing veteran wide receiverZay Jones after spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the team.
Jones returns with more than 300 career receptions, nearly 3,300 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. The veteran gives Arizona another experienced option after trading Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans earlier this month.
Michael Wilson currently leads the Cardinals’ receiving corps, but the options behind him leave plenty to be desired. Kendrick Bourne, Reggie Virgil, Simi Fehoko, and Devin Duvernay are among the other wide receivers available to Arizona, leaving the team short on proven production at the position.

Jones won’t replace Harrison’s potential as a former first-round pick, but he can provide a reliable target who understands the Cardinals’ offense. His familiarity with the organization should also help him settle back into the lineup without needing an extended adjustment period.
According to Adam Schefter, the Red Birds also tried out three other wideouts on Tuesday: Ronnie Bell, James Proche, and Xavier Guillory.
The Cardinals need more consistency from their passing game, especially with Wilson and tight end Trey McBride serving as the team’s most dependable receiving options. Jones can help take some pressure off those two while giving the offense another veteran presence.
Arizona’s move doesn’t transform its receiving room into a strength, but it addresses an obvious need following Harrison’s departure. With limited established options at wide receiver, bringing back Jones gives the Cardinals another player who can contribute while the rest of the group looks to establish itself.
