Morocco reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Tuesday, condemning separatism and armed groups destabilizing the country’s eastern provinces.
Speaking at an African Union Peace and Security Council meeting in Addis Ababa, Morocco’s delegation called for an end to hostilities, stronger protection of civilians and unhindered humanitarian access to affected communities.
The delegation emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remained essential to achieving a lasting political settlement, reiterating Morocco’s support for ongoing mediation efforts.
It also urged the African Union and United Nations to maintain their engagement while respecting the DRC’s sovereignty and the principle of non-interference.
Morocco highlighted its contribution to regional peacekeeping through its military contingent serving with the UN mission MONUSCO, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Moroccan personnel.
