GEORGE TOWN: The family of a doctor killed in a landslide at Taman Seri Rambai here has requested privacy and has yet to consider any follow-up action.
Chang Mei Nuo, 68, said the family is currently focused on completing the cremation rites for her late husband.
"We hope to be given space until the cremation rites are completed before we think about anything else.
"For now, I am staying at my child's house," she said, declining to comment further.
Chang said this when met at the compound of her house today after being asked about any steps the family plans to take following the tragedy.
Meanwhile, multi-agency site inspections and monitoring were conducted by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Department of Environment (DOE), Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID), and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
Several residents were seen retrieving essential belongings with permission from the authorities, but they also declined to comment.
Yesterday, a man died after the rear section of his house was struck by a landslide.
In the incident, Dr Wong Kar Lin, 73, was found buried under rubble in the kitchen following an 8.36am emergency call to authorities.
His wife, Chang, and his mother, Wong Poh Lim, 86, survived the incident.
Authorities have issued a stop-work order and directed residents of five adjacent houses to evacuate immediately as a safety precaution.
