Nagaland Police have arrested Shahil Ali, an alleged mastermind of a fake currency racket, in connection with a vehicle theft case shortly after his release from jail.
Dispur Police had previously arrested Shahil in a fake currency case. Two days ago, police also arrested his alleged associate Abdul, who reportedly made significant disclosures during interrogation.
According to the initial report, Abdul told investigators that a fake currency hub was operating in the city’s Katabari area, from where counterfeit notes were allegedly sent to different locations. Shahil was arrested alongside Ajay Biswakarma in the earlier fake currency case. Biswakarma was later injured in police firing.
After coming out of jail, Shahil allegedly became involved in vehicle theft, leading to his latest arrest by Nagaland Police.
