Liverpool will welcome Chelsea at Anfield this Wednesday night as they look to secure a victory at home in the EFL Cup. The Reds managed to earn a solid 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion recently, so they would fancy their chances of securing another good result in midweek.
Andoni Iraola will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation once again and is expected to make a few changes to his first team for this game. Kostas Tsimikas, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha could all play from the start of this contest.

Defence
Giorgi Mamardashvili will operate in goal for the Merseyside club as he looks to keep a clean sheet in front of the home fans. Joe Gomez will resume his partnership with Jeremy Jacquet at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep a good shape when defending inside their half.
Ronald Araujo will be a nailed-on starter at right-back, while Kostas Tsimikas hopes to prove his value on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.
Virgil Van Dijk and Milos Kerkez will be given a rest on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield
Trey Nyoni and Ryan Gravenberch will anchor the midfield for the Merseyside club as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.
The talented trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha will play just ahead of them as part of the Liverpool attack. All three of them need to combine well if the Merseyside giants are to secure a positive result this week.
Bradley Barcola and Alexis Mac Allister will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Lewis Koumas will lead the line for the Merseyside giants up top. He has to figure out a way to be a constant menace on the offensive end of the field.
Alexander Isak will be rested on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
