Subway is moving its National Sandwich Day celebration up a week, to Tuesday, Oct. 27, ahead of the holiday's usual Nov. 3 date, the company said. Sub Club members can get a second Footlong at no cost when they buy one, from Oct. 27 through Nov. 8.
The offer is open to existing Sub Club members as well as people who newly join, provided they order via Subway's app or Subway.com from a U.S. location that takes part, the company said. The deal will be added to members' wallets in the app. Nov. 3 is midterm Election Day, and Subway said the offer will remain available on that date for customers who mark National Sandwich Day then.
The free Footlong must not cost more than the one purchased. Add-ons, tax and other charges apply, and the offer allows one use per order. It cannot be combined with other offers and excludes the Fresh Fit, 5 Meat Italian and Big Hot Pastrami subs, according to the company. Sub Club is not available on third-party delivery, catering or gift card purchases.
Subway is also bringing back two menu items for a limited time. The Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub was last offered in 2014. It combines enchilada-marinated chicken cooked rotisserie-style with Fritos corn chips and Baja Chipotle $CMG sauce, plus Monterey Cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onions.
The Caramel Apple $AAPL Cookie was last offered in 2021. It contains bits of apple and salted caramel crunch as well as caramel chips, and a drizzle of caramel icing tops it off.
"We weren't going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought," Jeff Klein, Subway's chief marketing officer, said in a statement. He said both fans and franchisees have repeatedly requested that the Fritos sub come back.
Chef Paul Fabre, Subway's senior vice president of culinary innovation, described the flavors of the sub. "The enchilada sauce brings depth, the chipotle adds a little heat and the Fritos deliver that signature crunch," Fabre said in a statement.
The promotion follows Subway's Feed Your SUBconscious brand platform, which launched in September and features actor and comedian Will Arnett as the inner voice that steers people toward a meal at Subway, the company said.
