Real Madrid face a difficult task if they want to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, with the Spanish right-back unlikely to leave London during the January transfer window, according to a report from SPORT.
Tottenham’s long-term contract with the 27-year-old, his strong relationship with manager Roberto De Zerbi and his current status at the club have made a potential transfer increasingly complicated.
Porro has attracted attention from both Spanish giants as they assess their right-back options.
Yet Tottenham’s determination to retain one of their key players could prevent either club from making progress in the short term.
Pedro Porro transfer puts Real Madrid on alert

As such, Real Madrid’s search for a reliable solution has attracted particular attention.
This is because Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to fully convince, while Denzel Dumfries is also not viewed as the ideal answer.
Hence, Federico Valverde has consequently been used on the right to provide additional depth, highlighting the need for a more established option in the position.
Barcelona have their own reasons to monitor Porro, but competition from Real Madrid would be problematic for both teams.
What happens now?
Tottenham have considerable leverage because Porro renewed his contract until 2031, with an option for an additional year.

The club has also demonstrated their appreciation for the defender, giving him a guard of honour on his return following Spain’s World Cup triumph.
Porro is said to be happy in London and has maintained an excellent relationship with De Zerbi.
He remained supportive of the manager during a difficult start to the campaign, and Tottenham have since moved away from the relegation zone following a period of poor results.
Tottenham’s negotiating position is strengthened by Porro’s contract and importance to the squad.
The club is known for demanding substantial fees for their players, meaning any offer from Real Madrid would likely need to be significant before negotiations could advance.
