Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has attracted attention with a striking new braided hairstyle, which he showed off as the French champions celebrated a 2-0 victory over Lyon.
The Moroccan right-back arrived at the Parc des Princes on Monday evening sporting tightly woven braids, with fans drawing comparisons between his appearance and that of Jamaican music star Sean Paul.
Beyond the new look, Hakimi played an influential role in PSG’s victory, stepping up to captain the side in the absence of regular skipper Marquinhos, who is currently recovering from an injury.
The defender took responsibility on the pitch, providing an attacking threat down the right flank while remaining solid defensively as PSG kept a clean sheet against Lyon.
After the match, Hakimi took to his X account to explain the meaning behind his new hairstyle, using the opportunity to reaffirm his connection with the Parisian club.
“Braids tightly woven, just like my ties with Paris,” Hakimi wrote.
His performance and fresh appearance added to the attention surrounding the Moroccan international following the home victory.
