The NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching, and Khalil Mack has been a hot name in the rumor mill with the Los Angeles Chargers owning the worst record in the league (0-6). On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport claimed that the Chicago Bears are one team potentially seeking a deal to acquire Mack.
During a segment on “The Aftermath” on the NFL Network, Rapoport name-dropped the 35-year-old edge rusher as a trade target for Chicago. He didn’t provide too much information, but he informed Bears fans to keep an eye on Mack with the trade deadline looming.
“Khalil Mack is a fascinating name for the winless Chargers,” Rapoport said. “The Chicago Bears, his old team, have a need on the edge. That is a name to watch.”

Despite the Chargers struggling this year, the 13-year veteran is well on pace to reach eight or more sacks this season. Through his first six games in Los Angeles in the 2026-27 campaign, Mack has accumulated 19 combined tackles (11 solo), three sacks, and six quarterback hits. Although he is no longer in his prime, his production on the defensive line could be a nice fit for Chicago.
Khalil Mack previously played for the Bears for four seasons (2018-2021) before ultimately being traded to the Chargers in the 2022 offseason. At the time, Chicago was selling for draft capital, while L.A. was buying for a playoff run. Now in 2026, the tables have completely turned.
The Bears are 5-2 on the season through the first seven games of the campaign. They have two more contests on the schedule before the November 10 trade deadline. The first will come on November 2 for a “Monday Night Football” showdown with the Seattle Seahawks.
