Perupetro S.A. has awarded the contract for Block 207 (Talara Basin) to SPT Energy Group Inc., whose technical bid significantly outperformed the proposals submitted by the six other qualified bidders in this investor solicitation process.
In accordance with the established schedule, the Selection Committee opened "Package No. 2"—the technical bids from the seven competing firms—yesterday. Following a rigorous and transparent evaluation process, conducted in a public session, SPT Energy Group Inc. was declared the winner.
The new license agreement for Block 207 will span 30 years, during which the new operator is required to carry out an ambitious work program aimed at maximizing efficiency and increasing oil production in the Talara Basin.
The winning proposal includes 100 well workover operations (in addition to the 21 stipulated in the tender requirements), the drilling of 170 development wells (exceeding the 12 required), and 80 exploratory wells.
This represents a strong inestment commitment of nearly $400 million over the first 10 years of the license agreement, which will generate direct and indirect benefits for the region.
Block 207 consists of Section A of the current Block XIII—the contract for which expires in December 2026—and covers an area of 21,911.453 hectares.
Average production over the last year reached 750 barrels of oil per day—a figure expected to increase gradually under the work plan to be implemented by the winning company.
It is worth noting the high number of bidders that competed in this process, including: SPT Energy Group Inc.; Offshore Exploration and Production LLC; Red Internacional de Combustibles y Sistemas Avanzados S.A.C.; Colombian Green Energy S.A.S.; Curefco International Trading and Shipping (Citasco) BV – La Ponderosa Energy S.A.; Sertecpet S.A. – Inventa Energy Enterprises, LLC; and Alpha Integral Service E.I.R.L. – Inexport Servis S.A.C. – Empresa de Transportes Romero S.R.L.
