Murang'a - Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has publicly contradicted Nyandarua Senator John Methu's account of a financial transaction between the two politicians, insisting the money he gave was campaign funding and not a personal loan for a vehicle.

Nyoro made the clarification on Tuesday, October 27, while speaking in Kiharu, pushing back against Methu's suggestion that the funds were meant to help him buy a car.
What Nyoro says happened
According to Nyoro, the Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua reached out to him directly to request financial support ahead of the Ol Kalou by-elections. Nyoro says he subsequently split the amount, giving one portion to Methu and the other to a person identified as Wamumbi, described as Gachagua's personal assistant.
"Gachagua called me, and Methu came to my office. I gave him half of the money for the Ol Kalou campaigns, then gave the other half to Wamumbi. Rigathi's PA, kama ulinunua gari, kaulizane huko kwa chama yenu!" Nyoro said, directing Methu to take up the matter within his own party if he chose to spend the money differently.
Nyoro turns fire on DCP over 'mole' accusations
Beyond the car loan dispute, Nyoro also addressed claims from within DCP circles that he is a government mole, a characterisation he appeared to link to his previous role as Budget Committee Chairman in the National Assembly.
"DCP are calling me a mole, a project, because I was the Budget Chairman. Between the Budget Chairman and the Deputy President, who is closer to the President? If it's about friendship, then they are the biggest moles," Nyoro said, aiming the remark pointedly at Gachagua.
The remarks underscore the deepening tensions between Nyoro and the DCP leadership following Gachagua's fallout with President William Ruto's administration. Nyoro, who has publicly aligned himself with Ruto's camp, has increasingly found himself at odds with Gachagua's political network in the Mount Kenya region.
