Two people were injured after miscreants hurled two crude bombs outside the press of daily newspaper Amar Desh in Tejgaon Industrial Area of Dhaka last night.
One of the crude bombs exploded, while the other remained intact.
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Officer-in-Charge of Mahbubur Rahman said a police patrol team went to the scene after receiving news of the explosion.
Police filed a case against unidentified individuals today and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved, he added.
“We are trying to identify and arrest the perpetrators,” OC Mahbubur Rahman further said.
The injured were identified as Akhtar Hossain, a security guard at the press, and Rina Khanam, a vendor who runs a betel leaf shop in front of the premises. Both received treatment at a hospital after the incident.
The OC said the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and hurled the crude bombs outside the press on the road at around 10:45pm.
Asked about the incident, Amar Desh Managing Editor Zahed Chowdhury said, “We have no enmities with anyone. Once police makes an arrest, we can find out the motive behind the incident.”
