A woman accused of making a series of false rape and sexual assault allegations has had her case adjourned after her defence team sought more time to consider close to 1,000 pages of legal papers.
Catherine Clare Malcolm, 46, of Grovemount Court in Londonderry, faces 10 charges of perverting the course of justice.
The charges relate to allegations which prosecutors claim she knew to be false and which were made over a period of almost three years between December 2015 and November 2018.
Eight of the charges concern allegations of sexual assault, while two relate to allegations of rape.
One of the counts also refers to allegations of violence.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place across a number of dates, beginning in December 2015 and continuing through 2016 and 2018.
Some of the charges refer to allegations concerning named individuals, while others relate to named and unnamed individuals.
The case came before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a preliminary enquiry.
Defence counsel Aoife Macauley told the court she had only recently become involved in the case and said the papers run close to 1,000 pages.
She sought an adjournment to allow further time to study the material.
The application was granted and the preliminary enquiry was adjourned until next month.
