A drone attack reportedly hit a 25-story business center and residential buildings in Russia’s Voronezh, while a separate train derailment in Sverdlovsk Region left seven fuel tankers burning.
The independent Russian outlet Astra reported that a drone struck the Chizhova Gallery business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. The complex includes a 25-story high-rise that is one of the city center’s prominent architectural landmarks, according to the facility’s website.

The attack prompted reports of numerous explosions and fires across Voronezh. Astra said a drone threat was declared in the region at around 3 a.m., followed by a missile threat approximately two hours later. Residents told the outlet that they had heard explosions but that no air-raid sirens had sounded.
Residential buildings, vehicles reportedly damaged
An Astra OSINT analysis of photographs and videos identified several locations where damage or fires were reported.
According to the outlet, a residential complex at 4K Arkhitektora Troitskogo Street was struck, while the newly built Uritsky residential complex at 135 Uritskogo Street also sustained damage. The latter building was completed last year, Astra reported.
At least 10 cars were reportedly on fire in a parking area at 275/1 45-y Strelkovoy Divizii Street. The outlet also reported fires in residential areas and smoke spreading across the city.
Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+ claimed that some of the impacts resulted from Russian electronic warfare systems operating inside the city, alleging that Russian air defenses caused damage while attempting to counter the drones. The claim has not been independently verified.

Industrial and aviation facilities possibly targeted
Supernova+ citing their own open-source intelligence analysis suggested that the Voronezhsintezkauchuk synthetic rubber plant and the Voronezh Aircraft Joint-Stock Company (VASO) may also have been targeted.
Voronezhsintezkauchuk, part of Russian petrochemical group SIBUR, produces synthetic rubber and thermoplastic elastomers. VASO is part of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation and participates in the production of Il-96 long-haul aircraft and components for other aircraft.
H2: Killed and injured in Voronezh drone attack, governor says
A drone attack reportedly killed two people and injured 17 others in Voronezh.
Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev said the two people killed were men born in 1960 and 1973. One child was among the injured, and two of the wounded were in serious condition.
A significant number of those injured were traveling on a train passing through Voronezh’s left-bank suburbs when drone debris fell onto it, Gusev said. Emergency services were working at the scene.
The attack also sparked fires at several industrial facilities, a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium and a garage cooperative, according to the governor. He said the industrial fires had no major consequences.
Building facades and windows were damaged in nearly every district of the city, Gusev added.
According to the governor, air defense forces shot down more than 70 drones over Voronezh, while 113 were intercepted across the metropolitan area and several districts of the region. These figures have not been independently verified.
Neither the Russian Defense Ministry nor Ukrainian officials have commented on the reported attack.
Freight train derails in Sverdlovsk Region
Separately, 20 freight train cars derailed in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Region, with seven fuel tankers catching fire, according to reports cited by Astra. The cause of the incident has not been disclosed, and no casualties have been reported.
The Sverdlovsk Railway said traffic on the Reshety-Aramil section had been suspended after the derailment compromised clearance of an adjacent track. Firefighting and recovery trains were dispatched to the scene.
Local residents reported seeing flames and thick black smoke, with one witness telling media that an explosion had illuminated the area near the Chusovsky Tract.
Russia’s consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, said it would test air quality in nearby residential areas.
The derailment comes amid a series of reported disruptions to Russian railway infrastructure in recent months.
The Moscow Times reported that Ukrainian drone attacks on railway infrastructure in the Bryansk Region on Sept. 28 caused 10 railcars to derail after a railway bridge section collapsed, while a separate incident derailed 18 empty freight cars.
Other reported railway incidents in September and July caused train delays and damage, although the causes differed.
Neither Russian nor Ukrainian officials have publicly attributed the Sverdlovsk derailment to an attack.
