Quinta Brunson embraced her inner child in her Vivienne Westwood dress at Sunday’s “The Cat in the Hat” premiere at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles.
The “Abbott Elementary” Emmy Award winner sported the British label‘s Long Monday checked cotton polo dress — a look that brought a playful style sensibility to the red carpet without sacrificing the late designer’s signature punk style.
Cast in shades of punky pink and red with a scribble effect that gave the piece its childlike quality, the dress had a fitted, sculpted silhouette that balanced the whimsical print with a sultrier shape.
Constructed of 100 percent cotton, the dress featured a partially buttoned front with a ribbed cuff and side slit. Folded fabric at the neckline and collar added dimension to the dress.
Brunson wore delicate dangle earrings along with a bevy of rings, including Loree Rodkin’s articulated ring. As for footwear, the actress and writer wore a set of metallic gold mules by Giuseppe Zanotti. Brunson’s look was curated by stylist Jessica Paster, who also collaborates with Emily Blunt.
Following Vivienne Westwood’s death in December 2022, Andreas Kronthaler took over as the creative director and leader for the eponymous label. While experimenting more and more with movement, as seen in the spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection that debuted during Paris Fashion Week earlier in October, certain brand elements remain intact.
Chief among them is Westwood’s affinity for punk sensibility and edgy styling. Though those elements weren’t brought out in full force with Brunson’s “The Cat in the Hat” premiere look, there was enough there to a evoke a type of childlike sprightliness perfectly in-step with the red carpet event.
“The Cat in the Hat” follows the famous Dr. Seuss character in an all-new epic, animated adventure. The film also stars Bill Hader as the titular character and Oscar-nominated actress America Ferrera. “The Cat in the Hat” hits theaters Nov. 6.
