A Shell garage worker in Rosslyn, Pretoria, is appealing to the public after a chance encounter with a homeless young man left him determined to help.

The employee, who shared his story through De Savior TV on Facebook on 26 October 2026, said he met a young man named Quinton while on duty. Rather than walking past, he bought Quinton some food and sat down to listen.

Quinton shared that he had walked the entire distance from Krugersdorp to Rosslyn on foot and had been sleeping under a bridge near the R566. He also told the worker that he had family in the Free State but had no way of getting back to them.
