At a given time, there were forbidden exchanges between the opposition and the ruling coalition manifesting themselves in the form of subterfuges, tirades, mudslinging and what not. Such exchanges are contrary to the code of ethics of the IEC. Only politicians who have nothing to offer would be engaged in such exchanges.
A campaign period is a time when the ruling party should hold itself accountable by explaining the successes and achievements of the government and the better things to come if re-elected. The opposition on the other hand will try to convince the electorate that they have better or superior policies and programmes which will yield sound development. That’s all, no need to use insulting or derogatory language. The electorate should become aware that politicians who utter such language do not have their interest at heart.
In the past week, there seems to be more talk on policies and programmes.
