Oracle is expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities beyond answering questions and generating recommendations, introducing new tools designed to complete complex business tasks across finance, human resources, supply chains, sales, and customer service.
Announced October 26 at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, the latest additions to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications include 25 AI-powered applications built on Oracle Fusion Claw, along with new interfaces that allow employees to assign work to AI agents and monitor their progress.
The developments reflect a broader shift toward AI systems that execute business processes rather than simply assist employees. For small and growing businesses, this approach could reduce administrative workloads, improve operational efficiency, and help teams manage increasingly complex operations.
Key Takeaways
- 25 AI applications are now available: Oracle introduced tools that automate complex tasks involving accounting, workforce management, procurement, supply chains, and customer service.
- New AI interfaces simplify task management: Oracle Fusion Companion and Fusion Agentic Home allow users to define objectives, delegate work, and monitor results.
- Human oversight remains central: The applications operate within organizational policies and permissions, with approval requirements governing important business actions.
AI Moves Beyond Recommendations to Business Execution
Oracle’s new Fusion Claw technology provides the foundation for applications capable of managing lengthy, multistep business processes. The system supports continuous planning, coordinated execution, and automated adjustments as circumstances change.
Unlike traditional automation, which typically follows predefined steps, these applications can evaluate changing conditions and coordinate different activities while operating within established business controls.
“The next era of enterprise AI is all about delivering software that increasingly does the work, while people define the objectives and set the policies,” said Chris Leone, executive vice president, Applications Development, Oracle.
Leone emphasized that the technology allows employees to focus on important decisions while maintaining organizational accountability.
New Tools Target Finance, Workforce Management, and Supply Chains
Oracle’s 25 Claw-powered applications span its enterprise resource planning, human capital management, supply chain management, and customer experience platforms.
Several applications address operational challenges that smaller businesses frequently encounter:
- Ledger: Helps accounting teams reconcile financial records, investigate discrepancies, and prepare financial analysis, potentially reducing the effort required to close accounting periods.
- Payroll Activity Workspace: Compares payroll expenses and balances with previous periods, identifies unusual changes, and recommends follow-up actions for review.
- Workforce Orchestration: Evaluates staffing requirements, employee development, hiring, and redeployment options to support workforce planning.
- Procurement Spend: Analyzes purchasing activity and supplier agreements to identify unauthorized spending, contract issues, and potential savings.
- Supply Planning Allocation: Helps businesses determine how to distribute limited materials and production capacity when demand exceeds available resources.
- Service Health Check: Detects emerging customer service problems, identifies potential causes, and prepares corrective actions.
For example, a small manufacturer facing material shortages could use supply planning capabilities to compare allocation scenarios before deciding which orders to prioritize. A growing retailer could use procurement analysis to identify purchases that fall outside negotiated supplier agreements.
Oracle has also announced specialized AI applications for human resources, supply chain management, and customer experience.
Employees Can Delegate Work Through AI Interfaces
Oracle also introduced Fusion Companion and Fusion Agentic Home, two experiences intended to make AI-driven workflows more accessible.
Fusion Companion enables users to interact with Oracle Fusion Applications through supported AI tools, including ChatGPT. Employees can describe their business objectives, and the system identifies the relevant transactions, workflows, approvals, and AI agents needed to complete the work.
Fusion Agentic Home provides a personalized environment where employees can assign tasks and track their completion. Fusion Companion can also coordinate authorized activities involving data from other enterprise systems.
For businesses managing several departments with limited staff, these capabilities could simplify coordination between financial reporting, procurement, and workforce operations.
Oracle’s AI Agent Studio additionally allows organizations and technology partners to create and customize AI agents using no-code and professional development tools. It includes monitoring, safety controls, and return-on-investment measurement capabilities.
However, smaller businesses evaluating the technology will need to consider implementation costs, existing software compatibility, employee training, and data security requirements. The announcement did not provide specific pricing or quantified customer savings for the new applications.
Companies will also need clear policies defining which decisions AI can make independently and which require human approval. Automated financial adjustments, purchasing decisions, and staffing changes carry consequences that require appropriate oversight.
For businesses already using Oracle Fusion Applications, the expanded AI capabilities could offer additional opportunities to automate repetitive tasks without abandoning existing systems. Smaller organizations considering enterprise software investments will need to weigh those potential efficiency gains against implementation complexity and ongoing operating costs.
Oracle’s announcement signals a growing emphasis on AI systems that carry out business operations under human supervision. Whether those systems deliver meaningful savings for smaller organizations will depend on their affordability, integration requirements, and measurable performance in everyday business environments.
