Contrary to all expectations, Manchester United have yet to communicate a decision on the fate of Michael Carrick.
After humbling back-to-back defeats to Como (1-4) and Bournemouth, most observers believed INEOS would wield the axe on Carrick’s tenure on Monday.
The club has now plummeted to 16th place in the league table, having only won one Premier League fixture in nine attempts.

Carrick’s sacking seemed to be a mere formality as CEO Omar Berrada, Director of Football Jason Wilcox, and Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell all reported to Carrington on Monday morning.
The manager obviously wasn’t part of the meeting, as the discussion focused on his future. Nevertheless, Carrick did arrive at the training ground in the afternoon to watch a behind-closed-doors friendly between Man Utd U21 and Hull City U21.
According to the Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler, both Wilcox and Carrick have left Carrington.
Moreover, Man Utd insider Sully described the situation at the club’s facility as ‘confusing’ and ‘baffling’, with the staff left in the dark.
“We’re actually a circus. It’s now been 24 hours since the Bournemouth game, and there’s still NO official confirmation of what’ll happen with Carrick,” posted the MUFC fan and journalist on his X account.
“Berrada and Wilcox have been in Carrington since 9 am. Now, Carrick is casually coming in to watch the U21s. I can’t believe this.
“As of 16:00 gmt today, United staff have yet to receive any sort of communication as to what’s happening with Michael Carrick. Complete silence from the club’s execs. There’s a feeling of bafflement and confusion to how silent they’ve been and how Carrick is still in the job.”
